BENTON, Mo. -- Two Morley, Mo., men have been charged with second-degree robbery and second-degree assault in connection with an attack on a customer at a convenience store, according to a news release from the Scott County Sheriff's Office.
Sheriff Rick Walter said in the release that as of Sunday afternoon, Terrial Tyler, 40, and his son, Terrance "Shawn" Tyler, 19, were in the Scott County Jail on bonds of $25,000 each.
Walter said his office received a phone complaint at 1:19 p.m. Saturday from a clerk at a Morley convenience store, the release said. The clerk said a man had been assaulted at the business by two people, according to the release. The clerk thought the suspects lived near the convenience store, the release said.
Officers arrived shortly after the call and made contact with the 24-year-old male victim, who had been severely beaten in the head and face area, the release said.
According to the report from the victim, he was leaving the store when the Tylers jumped him at the front entrance and proceeded beating him down to the ground, the release said. The victim reported that once he was on the ground, the Tylers continued beating and kicking him; they also took several articles of personal property from the victim's jacket pockets, the release said.
The victim was examined by medical personnel at the scene, the release said.
Walter said in the release most of the property taken from the victim had been recovered. The investigation continues with the possibility of an additional arrest, the release said.
