Some 66 "official" outdoor markets offer vegetables, fruit, flowers and bedding plants from local farms, gardens and orchards in Missouri. Unofficially, there are many more when you count all the roadside stands and truck tailgates in towns where surplus produce from family gardens is sold.

Following is a partial list of the "official" markets:

-- Cape Girardeau Farmers Market, 2001 Independence, Plaza Galleria Parking Lot, 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., Thursdays, May through October.

-- Sikeston Farmers Market, U.S. 62 (Malone Avenue) adjacent to Union Pacific Depot in downtown area, Saturdays, 8 to noon, June through August.

-- Kennett Farmers Market, Main and Washington on Doctor's parking lot, daylight hours, April through November.

-- City of Poplar Bluff Farmers Market, Moran Street, between Cedar and Cherry streets, next door to Mo-Ark Regional Railroad Museum, daylight hours, year-round.

-- Ste. Genevieve County Farmers Market, Third and Jefferson, at Old Rozier's parking lot downtown, Saturdays 7 to noon, May through October.

-- Greater Springfield Farmers Market, Battlefield Mall Shopping Center, Sunset and Glenstone, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, April through October.

-- West Plains Area Farmers Market, Washington Avenue and Second Street, Tuesday and Thursday, 3 to 5 p.m., Saturday, 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., March through December.

-- The City Market, Kansas City, Fifth and Walnut, downtown area, daily year-round.
