Chins up
KUDOS TO the Southeast Missouri State women's basketball team. Keep your heads up. We enjoy every game.
I FIND it odd that Southeast Missouri State athletic director Don Kaverman said he didn't know any more than what had been reported already in regard to the OVC investigation of the women's basketball team. If the athletic director doesn't know "any more," then maybe that was the problem in the first place.
THE SUPER Bowl is over, and the NASCAR season begins [today]. It's time the Southeast Missourian realizes Cape Girardeau, Jackson and the surrounding area have many NASCAR fans. I have spoken to many NASCAR fans who receive the Southeast Missourian, and we would love to see stories about NASCAR. Thanks for the small article in Monday's paper.
WE'RE LOOKING forward to Nashville for the Ohio Valley Conference women's basketball tournament. Southeast coach B.J. Smith is doing a great job. Our women's team always seems to shine in crunch time. That is what a winning coach will do for you. Also, Southeast's men's track team is looking good.
PERCEPTION IS not always reality. I am completely behind the Southeast Missouri State women's basketball team. There always are people trying to drag others down. Southeast has a winner with its women's basketball program. If the season ended today, I am proud to be a booster.
ANY CLUE who won the Charleston-Cape Central game on Tuesday? I'm surprised to not see an article in the paper.
(Did you look on Page 3B of Wednesday's edition for the high school roundup?)
WHEN A basketball game has girls doing everything but throwing punches and fouls aren't called, it's not right. The referees are there to control what goes on out on the court. These girls could get hurt if it gets too out of hand.
