Voters will see familiar names on the ballots for area boards of education.
On Tuesday, the first day of filing for school boards, incumbents at a number of area schools filed for re-election. Candidates have until Jan. 31 to file.
In Cape Girardeau, school board President Ed Thompson filed for a third term on the board.
Board member Lyle Davis said earlier he hadn't decided about seeking another board term.
No one filed Tuesday for two seats on the Jackson Board of Education. Jackson board members Jeanette Bollinger and Marvin Adams haven't announced plans to seek re-election.
At Scott City, school board member Kevin Hilleman filed for re-election. Board member Tom Anderson's term also expires this year.
At Nell Holcomb, school board member Karen Fornkahl filed for re-election. Danny Taylor's term also expires this year.
At Oak Ridge school board member Bob Eisenhauer filed for re-election. Dan Sebaugh's term also expires this year.
At Delta, newcomer Robert Goehman filed for election. Board members whose terms expire this year are Phil Thompson and Keith Cook
At Chaffee, Bob Sullivan and Sharon Crowden filed for re-election to the school board.
Both board members at Kelly in Benton whose terms expire this year -- Rita Milam and John Felter -- filed for re-election.
