Fair Association sets date for 2006

The 151st annual SEMO District Fair will be held Sept. 9 to 16 at Arena Park, organizers say.

The fair association board of directors met Jan. 5 to elect officers for 2006. They were president Pete Poe of Cape Girardeau; vice president James K. Sander of Jackson; secretary Marilyn Schott of Jackson; treasurer Chris Weiss of Jackson; property custodian Dave White of Chaffee.

The annual meeting of the fair association, held in November, saw the election of James K. Sander, Glen Birk, both of Jackson and Sam Below of Delta, to the board of directors.

The Jackson Chamber of Commerce appointed Pete Rabbitt of Patton to the board of directors. The Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce appointed Bob Blattel and Dave White, both of Chaffee.

Volunteer of the Year awards were presented to Bill Ogle of Cape Girardeau and Rober Hartle of Millersville. Fair Family of the Year was awarded to the Dave White family.
