SEMO faculty member to receive Pride Award

History professor Dr. Alberta Macke Dougan will receive Southeast Missouri State University's Pride Award during commencement exercises at 2 p.m. Dec. 17 in the Show Me Center. The award recognizes a faculty member who has demonstrated excellence as a teacher, an extraordinary level of scholarship and service, and whose accomplishments are noteworthy. Dougan, who also serves as interim chairwoman of the middle and secondary education department at Southeast, plans to retire in July after 35 years of teaching at the university. She began teaching in 1971 at University High. She joined the history department when the lab school closed in 1986.

Tickets for January rodeo go on sale next week

The Show Me Center has announced ticket sales for the 18th annual Show Me Center Championship Rodeo start Monday. The PRCA-sanctioned rodeo will take place at 8 p.m. Jan. 20 and 21, featuring bareback riding, steer wrestling, calf roping, saddle bronc riding, cowgirl barrel racing, team roping and bull riding.
