An exhibit titled "One + One 2-Faculty and Alumni" opened Friday in Southeast Missouri State University's River Campus Art Gallery, and will be available for public viewing again from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday as part of the grand opening of the River Campus and Homecoming weekend.
The exhibit will remain open 1 to 5 p.m. weekdays until Nov. 20.
The majority of Southeast's full-time studio art faculty are participating in the show, along with former students and regionally and nationally recognized artists. Local alumni include Lindsey Baker of Scott City and Matt Miller, Meg Ebaugh and Leah Ulrich, all of Cape Girardeau.
"The exhibit shows off the best of our department," said exhibition coordinator Dylan Collins.
Faculty members were asked to invite former students to participate; altogether, 20 artists are taking part. The exhibit is a visual representation of the mutual inspiration between faculty and former students.
The works of faculty and alumni are not shown side by side, but Collins believes a visual correlation will be evident to those viewing the exhibit.
The exhibition also offers the opportunity to see the creative pursuits of former students in a career in the arts or art-related fields, Collins said. "It is seeing students realize their dreams."
