Miller named to dean's list at Quincy University

Zach Miller of Cape Girardeau was named to the dean's list for the spring 2003 semester at Quincy University in Illinois.

Miller, who graduated in May, is the son of Mitch and Diane Miller.

Advance student receives leadership award

Whitney McFerron of Advance, Mo., recently received the Truman Leadership Award at Truman State University.

She is the daughter of Paul and April McFerron and is a graduate of Advance High School.

Two SEMO scholarships awarded to Stover

Shannon Stover of Jackson has been awarded two scholarships for the fall 2003 semester at Southeast Missouri State University, where she is a junior.

She received the $1,000 Hazel Harrison Strickler scholarship and a $500 scholarship from the Cape Girardeau County Area Medical Society Alliance.

She is the daughter of Dan and Karen Stover of Jackson.

Oran students take first in banner competition

Jan Eftink and Tori St. Cin of Oran, Mo., recently received first place honors in the banner competition at the National Beta Club Convention in Nashville, Tenn.

The two attended the convention with advisor Tammy Gaines and fellow student Travis Randolph, who competed in the oratory competition.

The group competed against students from 15 different states.

Illinois students receive Masons scholarships

The Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of Southern Illinois recently awarded four $550 scholarships to area students, including:
