The Jackson Public Library has had a change in faces over the past two months as two staff members have left their positions.
Bernice Springer, library assistant, left her position June 1 so she could travel with her husband, John, who has retired.
She has been replaced by Faith Crutsinger who began work March 26 and will take over Springer's duties primarily as a cataloger.
Springer had been with the library since 1993.
Springer and her husband plan to visit their daughter, Kristine Springer, a librarian at the Boston Public Library. The Springers also plan to pursue their other hobbies of gardening and bird-watching.
Crutsinger came highly recommended by Springer because of Crutsinger's past employment history with Springer and decade of library experience. Crutsinger had worked at four different libraries, including the Washington County Public Library, over the years.
Crutsinger said, "Im working my way through Missouri, through the public library system."
Terri Noland has replaced children's library assistant Michelle Poe who left her position in May to study library science at the University of Missouri at Columbia in the fall.
Noland came on board May 14 and will implement the programs set up by Poe.
"Poe laid the groundwork by planning the themes for the weeks ahead," Noland said, adding: "There's not many jobs where you get to do crafts and access children's computer sites and get paid for it."
Noland said her goals are to provide children with the understanding that reading is enjoyable, not a chore, and to see the older children become involved in the reading program.
