Bomb disposal experts removed the ordnance and destroyed it at a military facility, the army said. Reporters were not allowed to witness the operation.

An army unit has been combing the old airport grounds for several months and already has removed two other World War II-era bombs.

The airport, which closed last year, was used by German occupiers and later by Allied forces during World War II and was heavily bombed by both sides. The army did not announce the origin of the latest bomb found.
