South African banker Ken Bowers will speak about that nation at the Oct. 4 meeting of the Cape Girardeau Executives Club.

Bowers was born and educated in Yorkshire, England. A banker, he emigrated to South Africa in 1948, where he married the daughter of an American missionary.

Bowers' 38 years in South Africa have given him a keen insight into its problems. As a native Brit, he's able to view the situation more objectively than someone reared in South Africa.

Bowers retired in 1986 and moved to the United States. He now travels the nation speaking to dinner clubs in an attempt to give a more balanced and objective view about the troubled land, South Africa, than what can be garnered from the news.

Reservations to attend the meeting, which will begin at 7 p.m. at the Drury Lodge in Cape Girardeau, must be received by Sept. 30. Only advance paid reservations will be honored. The cost of the dinner is $7 per plate.

For more information, or for reservations, contact Jack Himmelberger at 335-5092, or write to P.O. Box 39, Cape Girardeau, Mo. 63701.
