Shirley A. Armstead, a former undercover agent for the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, will be guest speaker Monday at the Cape Girardeau Civic Center.
Armstead will discuss self-esteem as it relates to drug use. She will also present information on the pitfalls of drug use.
The presentation begins at 6 p.m.
Armstead is now a special agent with the DEA, and acts as demand reduction coordinator and public information officer for the DEA's St. Louis office. She also serves as an expert drug witness for the U.S. attorney's office in St. Louis.
An undercover agent for six years, Armstead now works to halt drug use by linking law enforcement agencies, educators, parents and community leaders.
Before joining the DEA, Armstead was a social worker for 12 years with the Missouri Division of Family Services.
