The Safe House for Women will kick off National Victims' Rights Week with a book fair today at Barnes & Noble. A percentage of sales will be donated to the Safe House for Women. Activities include food samples from Phoenicia from noon to 2 p.m., a book signing of Morley Swingle's "Bootheel Man" from 3 to 5 p.m., story time with Curious George at 4 p.m. and live music by Mike Denson of St. Louis from 5 to 7 p.m. in the cafe. Also part of the awareness week, registration will begin at 8 a.m. today for a 5K walk/run at 9 a.m. at Anna City Park in Anna, Ill. It is the second crime victims' rights awareness walk/run. All proceeds will benefit Union County agencies that support and assist crime victims. For more information, call Amanda Lawrence at 618-833-7216.
