JACKSON -- The first meeting of the Multipurpose Building Feasibility Study Committee was canceled Wednesday due to inclement weather.
The meeting has been rescheduled for Jan. 23 at 7 p.m. in the Board of Aldermen's chambers at Jackson City Hall. The meeting is open to the public.
The first order of business for the committee, composed of 58 volunteers recommended by Mayor Paul Sander, will be to elect a chairman, vice chairman and secretary.
The committee will also establish subcommittees to study site location, project financing, building design and function of the facility.
The committee is charged with determining whether a multipurpose building is needed in Jackson and if such a facility is affordable.
If the committee decides to proceed with the project, it will outline specific plans for construction and financing for the facility.
