EVERY WEDNESDAY Cape Alternative Farmers Market: The farmers market is open every Wednesday through Oct. 3 from 8 a.m. to noon in the parking lot north of the Red House Interpretive Center downtown. The market features Missouri-grown strawberries; farm-raised and pastured chickens, eggs and pork; gourmet lettuce and fresh-cut herbs; breads, cakes and pies; gourmet canned items; goat milk soap; plants; fruits and vegetables (watermelons, squash, sweet corn and peppers); and all-natural pork and beef. EVERY THURSDAY Cape Girardeau Farmer's Market: The farmer's market is open every Thursday starting at 2:30 p.m. in the parking lot at 2001 Independence St. Items offered have been grown or produced within a 75-mile radius of Cape Girardeau: seasonal fruits and vegetables, arts and crafts, baked goods, eggs, honey, cut flowers and plants.
