The history of World War II in Europe will be the topic of an international study tour May 8-20 sponsored by the Senior Learning Program at Southeast Missouri State University.
The tour coincides with the 50th anniversary of the end of World War II. Dr. Frank Nickell, Southeast associate professor of history, will accompany the group.
"World War II left its very personal mark on many Americans -- those who served, those who waited and worked at home, and many more whose relatives or friends had first-hand experiences," Nickell said. "For some it is history, but for some of us it was very much a part of our lives."
The tour will take participants by bus through England, France, The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and the Czech Republic.
The tour is being planned by the International Network for Education and Travel Inc. of Jackson and the European Orientation Center of Maastricht, The Netherlands.
Cost of the 13-day tour is $2,250 for 15 to 19 participants or $2,100 for 20 to 24 participants. The price includes round-trip airfare from St. Louis to London and Berlin to St. Louis; guides; double-occupancy lodging in hotels; two meals a day; and travel in a luxury coach.
