The Environmental Protection Agency Region 7 will hold a public meeting Nov. 12, where the agency will present its proposed plan for the Kem-Pest Superfund site in Cape Girardeau.
The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at the Victorian Inn at the corner of Interstate 55 and Route K in Cape Girardeau.
In general, the EPA has proposed to amend its "record of decision" to allow for the demolition of the Kem-Pest plant building and off-site disposal of the contaminated building materials.
The public is encouraged to participate in the selection of the remedy by submitting written or oral comments during the 30-day public comment period, which began Oct. 21. The comment period ends Nov. 23.
For more information on the Kem-Pest site cleanup, contact the EPA's Office of Public Affairs at (913) 551-7003 or (800) 223-0425.
