Emerson to take part in memorial dedication

U.S. Rep. Jo Ann Emerson will participate in the Sunday dedication of a Blue Star Memorial at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau, her office announced Friday. Blue Star Memorials are a program supported by garden clubs nationwide to place markers at locations of special significance to veterans. The placement of a marker at the veterans home is an appropriate location to recognize its place as "an important component of the system in place to care for those who serve our country in their time of need," Emerson said in a prepared statement. The dedication will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday at the veterans home 2400, Veterans Memorial Drive near Center Junction.
