VAN BUREN, Mo. -- Property rights and a pending plan to manage the Ozark National Scenic Riverways will be the topic at a public forum Saturday hosted by U.S. Rep. Jo Ann Emerson.
The Cape Girardeau Republican announced that the meeting will take place at noon at the Landing in Van Buren, and will also include comments from business owners and elected officials.
"I can think of no better example of how important it is that we stay engaged so we have a voice in our own communities," Emerson said in a news release. "The draft plan affects our recreational opportunities, regional tourism, our small businesses and access to important places our families have come to know and love."
Emerson said members of the public have an opportunity and an obligation to express their concerns and objections about the General Management Plan before the National Park Service finalizes the document.
The property rights event will take place at The River Centre at The Landing, 106 Olive Street, from noon to 2 p.m.
