Emerson, Bond to attend local events next week

Two federal elected officials will be in Southeast Missouri next week attending local events.

U.S. Rep. Jo Ann Emerson will speak at the Jackson American Legion's Memorial Day ceremony at 9 a.m. Monday at the Jackson City Cemetery on South High Street. The Jackson Municipal Band will perform during the event as well.

U.S. Sen. Kit Bond will attend a transportation update meeting at 4 p.m. Tuesday at city hall in Scott City, 215 Chester Ave. Scott City, Cape Girardeau County and Missouri Department of Transportation officials will give reports on projects including the Ramsey Creek Bridge, the Nash Road/AB Highway project and the Scott City Interstate 55 interchange.
