Emergency response training classes for public start Wednesday

Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is a 20-hour training program designed to prepare you for a major disaster. The next opportunity to take part in the training is coming up on Wednesday for four hours each Wednesday for five weeks.

Coordinator Jim Watkins said you need to register so there are enough materials. Textbook and technical training is mixed with hands-on training.

Disasters will be simulated. All 50 states now have a CERT program. To attend the free classes call 573-986-6879. They are open to everyone over the age of 18.
