ELLIS EARNS FOURTH TERM AS MAYOR

Incumbent Ben F. Ellis Jr. was elected to his fourth term as mayor of Marble Hill in Tuesday's election.

Ellis with 176 votes easily outdistanced the two other candidates in the race, Jim Johnson with 106 votes and Russell Masterson with 56 votes.

"It shows that people have put their trust in the direction the board is going, that they have been satisfied with our work and hope it will continue" Ellis said. "I hope we can all work together for continued growth in Marble Hill."

For alderman for Ward 1, Tom Houchins won election with 95 votes. He defeated Jo Ann Riggs, who received 64 votes.

Incumbent Michael Morris was unopposed for alderman for Ward 2. He received 127 votes.

In other Bollinger County municipal elections:

In Sedgewickville, four candidates were vying for three positions on the village council. Elected to two-year terms were Jim Busby with 22 votes, Lonnie Massey with 20 votes and Lindell Hahs with 20 votes. The other candidate was Jim Boyd; he received 13 votes.

In Zalma, five candidates ran for the five positions on the village board and they each received six votes. Elected to one-year terms were Linda Pape, Delores Jackson, Junior Hale, Georgia Cookemboo and Mae Hale.

In Glen Allen, there were three town trustee positions up for election but only two candidates that filed for the two-year position. Karen Wells received 10 votes and Loris Lincoln received 14 votes to win election.
