Cape Girardeau Elks Lodge 639 recently honored four students as September Students of the Month.
Amy Debrock, 17, the daughter of Ivan and JoAnn Debrock of Chaffee, is a senior at Notre Dame High School.
She is in volleyball, basketball and softball and has been a member of the National Honor Society, Students Against Driving Drunk, Spanish Club and Publications.
Upon graduation, Debrock plans to attend the University of Missouri and major in medical technology.
Another Notre Dame senior, Sara Edney, 17, also was honored. The daughter of John and Terri Edney of Cape Girardeau, she has been active in cheerleading, volunteer work at St. Francis Medical Center, Pep Club and Future Business Leaders of America.
She carries an A-minus grade point average and received an academic letter her junior year.
Edney plans to attend college in Rolla and become an engineer.
Christopher Lee, 17, a senior at Cape Girardeau Central High School, is the son of Steven and Yvonne Lee of Cape Girardeau.
He has been active in several organizations, including Future Business Leaders of America, FCA, FHA, VICA, Student Advisory Board, varsity soccer, varsity track and varsity football.
Lee wants to continue participation in track when he attends college and eventually to become an architect.
Another Cape Girardeau Central student, Sarah Fletcher, was honored. The 18-year-old senior is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. James L. Fletcher Jr. of Cape Girardeau.
She has been active in varsity track, cross country and swimming; French Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and National Honor Society.
She carries an A-minus grade point average and has been in Who's Who Among American High Schools.
Fletcher plans to attend college and major in elementary education.
The Student of the Month Program is sponsored by the Elks Lodge in an effort to bring recognition to outstanding youth in the area.
Students of the Month are selected by a panel of youth in each participating high school and are judged on achievement, citizenship, scholarship and leadership.
