Kathryn Balsamo and Matt Strohmeyer have been named Students of the Month by the Cape Girardeau Elk's Lodge.
Balsamo is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Charles Balsamo of Cape Girardeau. She is a senior at Cape Girardeau Central High School. She is a member of Student Council, National Honor Society, varsity swimming and diving, Beta Club and the marching band.
Strohmeyer is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerry Strohmeyer of Cape Girardeau. He is a senior at Notre Dame High School. He is a member of the Beta Club, Math Club, Spanish and French Clubs, FBLA, Pep Club, SADD, and is president of the Student Council. He is also in choir, band, All-District Choir, All-State Choir, and Missouri Honors Choir.
The Student of the Month program is sponsored by the Elks Lodge in an effort to bring recognition to outstanding youths in the area. Multiple achievement, citizenship, scholarship and leadership are the basis for selection. Students are nominated monthly by classmates and teachers in their schools.
