CHICAGO -- The Elks National Foundation is offering $2,000 grants for students planning to pursue a vocational-technical course in a school or college leading to an associate degree, certificate or diploma.

Foundation trustees have set aside $788,000 for the grants for the 1994-95 and 1995-96 school years. Each grant is for $1,000 for each of the two academic years.

A total of 394 grants will be awarded, with at least one per state and Guam and Puerto Rico.

Graduating high school seniors and older students who desire training or retraining are encouraged to apply for the grants. A high school diploma or GED is not required.

Applications are available at community and technical colleges and at local Elks lodges. The application deadline is Nov. 19.
