An electrical fire at a home at 120 Louis St. caused smoke damage, but nobody was injured Sunday afternoon.

Cape Girardeau Fire Department battalion chief Fred Vincel said at the scene firefighters knew the fire started at an electrical panel box in the basement of the residence, but they were unsure what caused it.

Ameren Missouri was called in to help determine the cause of the fire.

"There will be some smoke damage, but nobody was hurt," Vincel said. "They caught it quick."
