The Southeast Missouri Easter Seal Society announces that its 1995 Jackson Neighbor-to-Neighbor campaign is now in full swing.

The campaign helps support Easter Seals' programs and services for people with disabilities. Donations help insure that current programs will continue and that new programs can be developed.

During the Neighbor-to Neighbor campaign, designated block captains throughout Jackson are distributing a kit from neighbor to neighbor, which contains information sheets and donation envelopes. When completed, kits are to be taken to Capital Bank, 101 W. Main in Jackson or they can be mailed directly to the Easter Seal Society, 316 S. Plaza Way, P.O. Box 366, Cape Girardeau, 63702-0366.

The Southeast Missouri Easter Seal Society has set a regional goal of $10,000 for this year's campaign.

The mission of the Easter Seal Society is to work with individuals, their families and the community to enhance the independence and quality of life of persons with disabilities. The Southeast Missouri Easter Seal Society currently features the Early Learning Center (ELC), which serves children from birth to six years of age with all types and degrees of disabilities. Services include age appropriate instruction and speech pathology. Third party occupational therapy is provided on site as well. In addition, the Computer Resource Center provides children with the opportunity to access their world through adaptive computer technology and software.

The Loan-A-Seat program lends infant car seats to anyone with a newborn who is in need of a seat. Countless children each year receive debilitating injuries in car accidents that could have been prevented had the children been in proper restraining devices. One of Easter Seals newest programs is Friday Night Out, a respite care program, featuring a fun-packed evening for a child with disabilities and their siblings, while providing the child's parents with a relaxing "Friday night out."
