JACKSON -- The Jackson Municipal Band will hold its weekly concert at 8 p.m. Thursday at the band shell located in the city park. Special guest will be Mike Dumey, music instructor at Schultz School in Cape Girardeau.
Dumey, a graduate of Jackson High School and Southeast Missouri State University, has served as a music instructor for Oak Ridge schools and has been director and star of several professional music groups including "Spotlight Tonight." He has performed as the lead vocalist at the International Discipleship conference in Jackson, Tenn.
The instrumental portion of the concert will include "Ozark Overture," written by the farmer Jacksonian Dr. Charles Smith. The band will also play songs in tribute to the Armed Forces entitled "Armed Forces Salute."
There is no admission fee for the concert. It is recommended that a lawnchair be brought for seating.
