Officer changes were approved by the Drury Southwest Inc. board of directors at its March 13 meeting, according to a news release.

Dennis Vollink, who joined Drury Southwest in 1981, will transition from his role as president to vice president and remain chairman of the board, according to the release. He will also continue his role as mechanical engineer and company pilot.

Kevin Whitfield will replace Vollink as president of Drury Southwest. Whitfield joined the company in 1983. Most recently he was senior vice president of design, development and construction.

In his role as president, Whitfield will be responsible for the company's long-range strategic goals and plans along with working with the executive team on site acquisitions, hotel design and construction and project financing, the release stated.

The Drury Southwest board of directors also announced the promotion and appointment of the following officers.

Steve Schmittzehe was promoted to senior vice president of accounting/taxation where he will continue to serve as controller and oversee the company's accounting department.

Dave Alberson was promoted to vice president of architecture and design where he will oversee the company's design and final construction drawings for all projects including renovations and new construction.

Darin Halter was promoted to vice president of construction management where he will be responsible for construction budgets and schedules.

Mark Mehner was promoted to senior director of renovations where he will continue to lead the company's renovation team along with managing the exterior reimaging of existing properties.

Drury Southwest is a national development company headquartered in Cape Girardeau. It is one of two companies that owns Drury Hotels Company LLC. The Drury Hotel system consists of 150 hotels in 25 states.
