The second drug trial of Charles Anthony Robinson, set to take place on Wednesday, has been delayed again; this time because a witness was not available.

Assistant prosecuting attorney Julie Koester said a continuance was granted by Judge William Syler at the request of Robinson and his lawyer, Steve Wilson. Wilson did not return calls seeking comment.

Syler set the matter for Dec. 17, when a new trial date may be set.

Robinson, originally charged with trafficking in cocaine, is to face a jury on a possession charge. His first trial ended in a hung jury when a juror allegedly told the others during deliberations of a bias against police.

That juror, Verdist Poindexter, was charged with felony perjury. Poindexter's lawyer, Pat McMenamin, recently told the Southeast Missourian his client has accepted a deal to plead guilty to a misdemeanor.
