Drivers uninjured after driving into flash floodwaters in Perry County

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- A Perry County employee escaped injury after Saturday's flash flooding washed his truck from the road and into a creek, according to the Perry County Sheriff's Department.

Ricky Favier, who in employed by the county's road and bridges department, was responding to a call reporting that debris was blocking a bridge on County Road 616, a news release said. The department received a report after 10:30 p.m. that Favier's truck had been washed off the roadway while he was still inside.

A deputy who arrived fewer than 10 minutes later found Favier already out of the truck and on the other side of the creek. Favier sustained minor injuries and was transported to Perry County Memorial Hospital for treatment of hypothermia.

Just before 9 p.m. Saturday, another driver, an unidentified elderly man, drove into water that had topped Highway T, police said, just west of County Road 702, and his vehicle flooded. But he, too, avoided injury when his vehicle was pulled to safety by a tow truck.
