DONIPHAN, Mo. -- For the second time in a week, a threat has been made against the Doniphan School District, triggering a campus lockdown and extra law-enforcement presence.
"The Doniphan R-1 School District received another threat from what is believed to be the same caller attempting to disrupt the students' learning environment," superintendent Jennifer Snyder said Thursday.
The alleged threat was called into the Doniphan Police Department on Thursday morning, a police spokesman said.
"There are extra officers at each school campus to ensure the safety of the kids," the spokesman said.
All Doniphan students arrived to school safely, Snyder said.
"The campuses are on secure mode for the day, meaning the teachers' classroom doors will be locked; the front doors will be locked," Snyder said.
"We are taking precautions with extra officers on all campuses.
"We have our local Doniphan police officers, as well as the (Missouri State) Highway Patrol."
Students again will have indoor recess.
This is the second time in a week there has been a law-enforcement presence on the school campuses.
Another threat was called in to the Doniphan Police Department between 6:15 and 6:30 a.m. March 16, prompting a lockdown and officers' presence on campus.
