A domestic disturbance sparked a car chase through downtown Cape Girardeau Thursday afternoon.

A 19-year-old Cape Girardeau woman led the chase after police tried to arrest her, said Cpl. Adam Gleuck, spokesman for the police department.

He said officers broke up a domestic disturbance on the south end of town. The woman left the location where the disturbance occurred and came back, continuing to yell. When officers tried to arrest her she sped off in her car, Glueck said.

Police followed the white car through the downtown area around 1 p.m. Gleuck said she was arrested at her residence on Fourth Street.

Two police cars were involved in the chase, Gleuck said. One of the cars struck a curb and the tire received minor damaged, he said.
