Peaches, a female pointer owned by Dempsey Williams of Waco, Texas, was a big "double" winner during the Southeast Missouri Quail Unlimited & Bird Dog Association trials held recently at Meier Hunting Club near Jackson.

Peaches captured first in the Jerry Kilgore Amateur Puppy Stake, and the Ray W. Grace Amateur Derby Stake.

Judges for the recent two-day trials were Clyde Lewis and Leonard Perry from Allendale, Ill. Kelly Ward served as field marshal for the trials. A total of 56 dogs were entered in the competition.

Ken Waldron was trial chairman, and was assisted by Wayne Jones, Ed Dooley, Chris Harbison, Tom Wright, Charles Ernst, Bob Ruess and Matthew Waldron.

Chris and Karen Harbison, operators of Meier Hunting Club, and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Kinder of Jackson, were hosts for the trial.

Traveling trophies were award in each of six stakes held. Winners by categories were:

Bob Catlett Open Puppy Stake 1. Bob's Katidid, a female pointer owned by Bob Jones, Marion, Ill., 2. Bozeann's Patriot, orange and white setter male, handled by Ken Waldron, Jackson; 3. Karen's Katie, female pointer owned by Karen Harbison and handled by her husband, Chris Harbison, both of Jackson.

J.R. Wood Open Shooting Dog Stake 1. Circle N. Bo, orange and white male setter owned by Ken Patterson, St. Louis and handled by Burl Roberts, 2. Gold Card, pointer male owned by Ray Grace, Carthage, handled by Roberts, 3. McKinneys Hot Rod, tri-color setter, handled by Ken Waldron, Jackson.

Elmer G. Brese Memorial Open Derby Stake 1. Dot, pointer female, owned by Ray Grace, handled by Roberts; 2. Buck, handled by Steve Hilliard, Illinois, 3. Bob's Katidid, handled by Bob Jones, Marion, Ill.

Jerry Kilgore Amateur Puppy Stake 1. Peaches, pointer female owned by Dempsey William, and handled by Gene Upton, both of Tennessee, 2. Wahoo Fiddler Vince, pointer male owned by Earl Elkins, Texas and handled by Waldron, Jackson, 3. Bozeann's Patriot, orange and white setter, owned and handled by Ken Waldron.

Leonard V. Waldron Memorial Shooting Dog Stake 1. Rowdy's Rambling Skip, Elhew pointer owned by J.D. Wirth; 2. Bozeann's Little Rebel, owned by Ken Waldron, 3. Lefty, German shorthair, owned by Dr. Bob Ruess.

Ray W. Grace Amateur Derby Stake 1. Peaches, owned by Dempsey Williams, handled by Gene Upton, 2. Wahoo Fiddler Vince, owned by Earl Elkins, Waco, Tex., 3. Katie, pointer female owned by Bob Jones, Marion, Ill.
