The battle between Cape Girardeau's doctors and lawyers will hit the ball field Aug. 24 during the third annual Doctor/Lawyer Softball Game.
The game, sponsored by the Area Wide United Way, will be held at 7 p.m. at Capaha Park. Children activities begin at 6 p.m.
Dr. Kent Griffith will manage the local doctors' team. Jeff Dix will manage the lawyers. Chuck Martin, executive director of the Easter Seal Society in Cape Girardeau, will announce the game.
Tickets for the game are $5 for adults and $2.50 for children age 6 to 11. Children under 6 years old are free. All proceeds from the game will benefit the 1996 United Way Campaign.
All fans have an opportunity to win a baseball package which includes tickets to a Cardinal game, a room at the Drury Lodge-Convention Center and dinner for two at a St. Louis restaurant. Other prizes which have been donated by area merchants will be awarded between innings.
Other games sponsors are Orthopaedic Associates of Southeast Missouri, St. Francis Medical Center and Southeast Missouri Hospital.
