DNR deputy director Mike Wells said the order came after his agency met Tuesday with AmerenUE representatives and members of the public in Lesterville, near the reservoir.

At least two homes and several vehicles were swept away and three children were injured last Wednesday when the upper reservoir of the Taum Sauk Lake hydroelectric plant breached. About 1 billion gallons of water rushed from the reservoir in 12 minutes.
