KENNETT -- A Dexter man drowned from injuries sustained in a diving accident in the St. Francis River Sunday afternoon.
Terry Martin, 37, of Dexter died from a broken neck after diving into the river, authorities said. Dunklin County Coroner Jack Adkins pronounced him dead at the scene.
At 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Dunklin County Deputy William Hill was called to the St. Francis River bridge near Wilhelmenia to investigate the possible drowning.
Martin's body was found by swimmers about one-half mile down the river. He was taken to the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden.
