Marge Dillingham is looking forward to fishing and traveling.
Dillingham, who has been in secretarial work for more than 25 years the last 12 at Van Matre Buick in Cape Girardeau, has announced her retirement.
"I'm going to be taking life easy," said Dillingham, who went through a lot of typewriters before adapting to the computerized office. "I'm an avid angler, and I like to travel."
Dillingham, who started her career at International Shoe Co. in downtown Cape Girardeau during World War II, will retire Thursday.
"I started on the floor at International," she said. "But after a couple of years I moved into the office."
She worked with International and Florsheim a total of 23 years.
"I worked with Lipps Trucking two years, and have been at Van Matre the past 12 years," she said.
She said the switch from typewriters to computers was the biggest change during her career.
"I had to learn all over," she said. "But the computers made things easier, and they are a time saver."
