JACKSON -- Diane M. Diebold, a Jackson accountant, has filed for Cape Girardeau County collector.
She was first in line for the Republican ballot Tuesday.
Diebold said her experience as an accountant has prepared her for the county collector's job.
"During my 25-year career as a business accountant I have worked in all areas of the accounting field including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, spreadsheets and word processing," Diebold said. "
She is controller for Double D Tractor Parts Inc. in Sikeston, a position she has held since 1996. For 23 years prior, she was an accountant with the Drury Co. in Cape Girardeau.
"During the last 15 years, I have had the responsibility of personally restructuring the accounting departments of five corporations from manual data entry to new computerized systems," she said. "I am thoroughly familiar with four different accounting software programs."
She has also retrained employees in accounting departments and supervised the accounting departments of four corporations.
"My current job with Double D Tractor Parts has added experience with the Internet, databases and networking," she said.
"I have worked my way up the ladder in the business world, and I am ready to put my knowledge and experience to use for Cape Girardeau County," Diebold said.
"The position of county collector deserves a person who can put all their effort into the office."
Diebold is a graduate of Notre Dame High School and of Southeast Missouri State University. She holds a bachelor's degree in business administration with a major in accounting and an associate degree in computer science.
She is a member of the Southeast Missouri State University Booster Club and the booster club at Notre Dame High School.
