A Dexter man was killed Tuesday morning and his wife, who was driving, was seriously injured when a pickup truck pulled into their path as they were going east on U.S. 60.

The accident occurred about a half-mile west of Morehouse, Missouri, in Stoddard County.

Killed was David N. Quoos, 73. Carol A. Quoos, also 73, suffered serious injuries. She was airlifted to Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

The driver of the pickup truck, 22-year-old Trent M. McMillan of Sikeston, Missouri, also sustained serious injuries. He was taken by ambulance to Saint Francis Medical Center.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at 9:50 a.m. when McMillan, approaching U.S. 60 from the south, failed to yield and pulled into the path of Quoos' vehicle, a 2008 Chrysler Aspen. Quoos' car struck the pickup, ran off the right side of the roadway and overturned.

The patrol reports neither occupant in the Quoos vehicle was wearing a seat belt. McMillan was equipped with his safety belt.

Stoddard County Coroner Kenny Pope pronounced David Quoos dead at the scene.
