Dexter man jailed for possession of meth, other drugs

DEXTER, Mo. -- A Dexter man was arrested Thursday after a brief chase on County Road 702, Stoddard County Sheriff Carl Hefner said in a news release.

Deputy Travis Stafford reportedly made an attempt to stop a vehicle, but the driver failed to yield. The vehicle then entered a driveway and its lights were turned off.

As Stafford approached the vehicle, a man exited the vehicle and ran into the back yard of the residence. When ordered to stop, the suspect continued to flee and climbed under a camper on the property, the release said.

The suspect, later identified as Michael C. Lambert, 34, was eventually apprehended and found to be in possession of a "large quantity" of crystal methamphetamine, marijuana and pills that were discovered to be a controlled substance, according to the release.

He was taken to the Stoddard County Jail and charged with felony probation/parole violation, felony possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver/distribute/manufacture, felony possession of a controlled substance (prior and persistent offender), felony possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.

Lambert remains incarcerated at the Stoddard County Jail on a $50,000 cash-only bond.
