John Mathis, 38, was taken to Pemiscot Memorial Hospital In Hayti, Mo., after the 7 p.m. accident four miles south on Caruthersville on County Road 369.
The Missouri Highway Patrol reported Mathis' motorcycle overturned after striking a wood object on the sand bar.
