DELTA - A three-vehicle accident Thursday morning five miles south of here injured two motorists.
The Missouri Highway Patrol at Poplar Bluff reported the accident injured drivers Lawrence Geary, 53, of Bloomfield, and Judy Johnson, 42, of Poplar Bluff. Both suffered moderate injuries.
Geary remained in stable condition at Southeast Missouri Hospital, said a hospital spokeswoman Thursday night. Johnson was treated and released, she said.
The accident happened at 10:25 a.m. on Highway 25, five miles south of Delta, said a patrol spokesman. The incident involved three northbound vehicles and resulted in two rear-end collisions, he said.
The spokesman said the accident occurred as a 1991 Ford driven by Marilyn Fisher, 55, of Cape Girardeau stopped for a state highway department flagman. Geary's vehicle, a 1987 Toyota truck, struck the Fisher vehicle in the rear, and a 1986 Pontiac driven by Johnson struck the rear of the Geary vehicle.
Both accident victims wore seat belts, the spokesman said. Citations are pending.
