Delay Saturday on I-55

Traffic on Interstate 55 will be stopped periodically Saturday for work on the new LaSalle Avenue/East Main Street interchange.

The contractor expects to be blasting rock for excavation for the new interchange tomorrow, weather permitting. When blasting occurs, traffic near Mile Marker 102 in Cape Girardeau County will be stopped for a brief interval at approximately 3 p.m.

Motorists are urged to use extreme caution in the area and be alert for slow and stopped traffic. Drivers should prepare for possible delays and consider alternate routes when possible.
