SANTA ANA, Calif. -- Surfing-team tryouts were interrupted by a four-legged friend who apparently wanted to get in on the fun. Surfers at Dana Point were shocked when a deer rushed into the ocean Thursday. One surfer bailed out of a wave when the animal appeared suddenly in front of him. Mike Foudy, whose son Cole had a near-collision with the deer, posted video of the dogpaddling deer, which he said appeared spooked. Surf-team coach Tim Samson herded the deer back to shore.
