ULLIN, Ill. -- Two Cache River wetland projects Cypress Creek National Wildlife Refuges and Cache River State Natural Area will be dedicated during a meeting of state and federal officials at Shawnee Community College here Saturday.
The Cache River project is a cooperative venture between the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, Illinois Department of Conservation, the Nature Conservancy and Ducks Unlimited to preserve wetlands and bottomland hardwoods in Southern Illinois.
John Turner, director of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, will be keynote speaker at the dedication ceremony at 1 p.m. Others who will speak at the dedication include Deputy Secretary of the Interior Frank Bracken, U.S. Sen. Paul Simon; U.S. Rep[. Glenn Poshard, and Richard Weinstein, chairman of the board of governors of the Nature Conservancy.
