CAIRO, Ill. -- The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans lane and width restrictions on the U.S. 51/U.S. 60/U.S. 62 Ohio River bridge between Wickliffe, Ky., and Cairo starting today. The restrictions on the Cairo bridge are to allow deck repair work that is expected to run through Oct. 28. The work zone will include a 9-foot maximum load width and one-lane traffic, with alternating flow controlled by an automated signal. Lane and width restrictions will be in place around the clock once work starts due to the curing time required for concrete being used in the deck repair process. The maintenance crew will attempt to phase the work so restrictions can be taken down Saturday and Sunday. Motorists should be alert for equipment and maintenance personnel on the bridge deck near traffic flow. Delays should be minimal, generally less than seven minutes. Timely traffic advisories for the 12 counties of KYTC Highway District 1 are available by going to www.facebook.com/kytcdistrict1.
