Debra Ruth Lawson, 70, of Glen Allen passed away Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2024, at her home. She was born Sept. 8, 1953, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Tommy and Mattie Lawson Taylor.
She was a high school graduate from West Covina, California. Debra had a green thumb and had a talent for growing plants. She enjoyed camping and sitting in the water.
On Feb. 19, 1977, in Las Vegas, Nevada, Debra and Wayne Lawson were united in what would become 46 years of marriage. This couple spent 51 years together, traveling 48 states, seeing the country. Wayne worked as a truck driver and had the pleasure of spending most of his life with his wife, Debra, by his side. They would spend multiple vacations each year in Mexico. There, Debra would collect seashells to make seashell mirrors.
Survivors include her husband, Wayne Lawson; her mother, Mattie Jann; and son, Paul (Candace) Lawson, all of Glen Allen; two grandchildren, Carter and Tristen Lawson; and nieces and nephews, Tommy, Brenda, Laura and Chris.
Debra was preceded in death by her father, Tommy Taylor; daughter, Shelly; and sister, Janice Bassick.
The Hutchings-Pendergrass Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill is in charge of the arrangements.
