JACKSON -- The Missouri State Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service (ASCS) has set Aug. 1 as the "setaside seeding" deadline.
Under provisions of the Food, Agriculture, Conservation and Trade Act of 1990, 50 percent of the ACR or land setaside must be seeded with an annual or perennial cover by Aug. 1, and must remain through Dec. 31.
One exception is that producers may till the soil starting Aug. 1 in preparation for a fall-seeded crop.
Eligible setasides (ACR) and conserving use for payment now includes strips of land at least 33 feet wide if the strip is required by a conservation plan or planted to a perennial cover.
Additional information is available at the Cape Girardeau County ASCS office, Jackson.
