Dana Corporation reported second quarter after-tax profits of $4.6 million, more than twice its first quarter earnings of $2.1 million. The profits were up partly due to $5.9 million income from the sale of a subsidiary and an 8 percent increase in sales.
Income is down substantially from the $31.6 million earned in the second quarter of 1990. The Toledo, Ohio-based company blames the soft North American vehicle market, depressed capital goods market and global nature of the economic downturn. It said its North American main market, light trucks, is showing signs of improving.
The board of directors declared a quarterly dividend of 40 cents per share.
Dana operates a components manufacturing plant in Cape Girardeau.
